Blizzard Entertainment has confirmed that further updates to Overwatch 2 production will be officially released during BlizzConline, but is the game delayed?
So the well-established leaker says. Alex, better known as “Metro,” leaked rumors about BlizzCon 2019 that had proven true previously, and claimed to have “heard things” during the stream while replying to Twitch’s statement about Overwatch 2 earlier this year.
Overwatch 2 was released on 1 Nov. 2019 in a movie theater where Winston, Tracer, and Mei arrive in Paris. The official release date has never been given. Fans were given insight into what the game is going to look like, as well as details on what’s new about Overwatch 2. Customizable powers, new characters, new maps, and new multiplayer styles, overwatch fans were enthusiastic about the title.

Updates were little to no until December 16, 2020, when Jeff Kaplan announced further updates to arrive in February 2021. Kaplan stated that the key priority at the time was Overwatch 2 and that the size of the team had expanded in order to improve the game.
Later, in January, new job postings were released on Blizzard Entertainment’s career website, which searched for animators, programmers, photographers, developers, and more precisely, Overwatch 2. This reinforced Jeff Kaplan’s comment about the size of the Blizzard team rising to work on the title. So what about the announcement in February?
Fans were disappointed when the fix came in February. Yesterday, Geoff Keighley and other media outlets reported that during an earnings call, Blizzard Entertainment announced that the game will not be released in 2021. (or Diablo 4). Although there are reports that they are behind schedule and a definite date has never been given, it would be false to state that the game is being postponed.

It is worth noting, as a closing point, that the first Overwatch game was released on 7 November 2014 at BlizzCon that year. The game will be released on May 24, 2016. It’s been more than two years since Overwatch 2 was released, but according to the official teaser, more detail will come out during BlizzCon 2021.
