BBC Sport set to broadcast League of Legends’ 2021 UKLC Spring Split

British broadcaster BBC Sport has revealed that League of Legends will once again be accessible live across its digital platforms, following the announcement that the UK League Championship (UKLC) will be broadcasted this year.

Starting today (Sunday, January 17th), the BBC will be broadcasting live League of Legends action from the UKLC’s 2021 Spring Split, the competition’s eight-week-long event.

The UKLC is the premier League of Legends competition in the United Kingdom and Ireland, with the next step up in the ecosystem being the Northern League of Legends Championship (NLC). The NLC brings together the top teams from across Northern Europe – namely Finland, Norway, Denmark, Sweden, and the UK and Ireland.

The UKLC will be broadcast across the BBC iPlayer, BBC Sport online &  its app channels, every Sunday and Monday evening from January 17th to February 22nd.

The Semi-Finals and Grand Final will take place on February 28th and March 1st, where one team will be crowned UKLC Champions.

The return for League of Legends to the BBC comes after the recent announcements that they would also be showcasing the tenth edition of the Rocket League Championship Series, as well as BLAST Premier’s Counter-Strike tournament circuit.

The BBC broadcasted the UKLC, as well as the NLC, last June on the BBC iPlayer and BBC Sport application. However, unlike last year, it seems that the broadcast deal now only includes the UK competition.

Some of the UKLC’s sponsors include the likes of Barclays, Currys PC World, and HyperX.
